This Saturday our shop, Birdcage Press is attending it’s first market. I am so excited and at the same time, a little bit anxious – it is the first time we will be showcasing our wares all at once. There has been quite a buzz at home! As you can imagine I have been super busy creating and getting everything in order. Here are the details of this weekends market (I will also be attending Boutique Markets Caulfield event on 24th November).

The Great Gatsby (adapted from the book written by F. Scott Fitzgerald) must be one of the most anticipated movies of 2013. It is one I am personally looking forward to, already having set up a movie buddy, mum (hubby is babysitting). Firstly, it has a stellar cast (Carey Mulligan is just beautiful and if you ask me Leo keeps going from strength to strength). Secondly, it was filmed here on our shores in Sydney, Australia and directed by none other than the talented Baz Luhrmann and thirdly, if the costume design is any indication of what’s in store, it’s sure to be a vivid show stopper!
I think we are only just starting to see the influence this movie and the infamous 1920s are going to have on what we see on the high streets. To me the 1920s are reminiscent of decadence, over indulgence, glamourous soirées, seductiveness and romance. I have already spotted in stores, the rise of crystal jewellery and accessories and predict a flurry of flirty flapper inspired dresses, tops and skirts – think fringe, feathers, sequins, silk, lace and crystal embellishments.
I soooo would have loved playing dress-up! Find these beautiful pieces here;
